THIS BOOK IS THE REAL DEAL! Magical realism, mixed with historical fiction, with a little bonus of learning how people in Mexico fared through the pandemic of 1918 (this book was written 5 years ago, so that bit does not feel overproduced).
I am going to reread and come back with a more in depth review, but the feeling that lingered with me most about this book, is the magic of childhood and how connection lives in those tiny gestures and unspoken moments that might go unobserved by the wider world.
I would recommend this to EVERYBODY.
